FIELD NOTES.
REAL TALK.

Thoughts on the industry, things I'm seeing, and the people getting it right — called out or applauded. No press release, no filter. This is where I say what I actually think.

When the other guys get it right, say so.

Authenticity in this industry is rare enough that it's worth clapping for — even when it's not our label.

Real Products, Real People isn't just our team. It's the standard we hold the whole category to. And when I see someone — an athlete, a creator, sometimes even a competitor's brand — doing it honestly, I'm going to say it out loud.

There's a version of business where you pretend your competitors never do anything right. I've never understood it. If someone's being straight with their customers, dosing properly, and not buying fake reviews, that's good for every legitimate brand in the room, us included.

So this space isn't only for talking about our own stuff. Some entries here are going to be me pointing at someone else and saying: watch this one, they're doing it right.

Your 'proprietary blend' is a receipt for nothing.

When a brand hides its doses, it's not protecting a trade secret. It's protecting its margin.

Let's call a proprietary blend what it usually is: a way to sprinkle a cheap ingredient with a dusting of an expensive one, list the expensive one first, and never tell you how much of either you're actually getting.

There is no formulation secret worth hiding from the customer paying for it. If a study says you need 5,000mg, and the label won't confirm 5,000mg, you don't have a premium product — you have a premium marketing budget.

Real formulators aren't scared of the truth. We built our whole brand on printing the exact dose. If that puts pressure on the other guys to do the same, good. The customer wins either way.

Labels don't lie. People do.

I've spent 30 years reading the back of bottles. Here's what the industry would rather you not notice.

Walk a supplement aisle and every label says the same ten words: clinically dosed, premium ingredients, third-party tested. Flip it over and half of them hide the actual doses behind a 'proprietary matrix.' That's not science — that's a shell game.

The label is the one part of the product the manufacturer can't spin in an ad. It's a legal document. And yet it's where most brands do their most careful lying.

My rule has always been simple: if I won't print the exact milligram dose, I won't put it in the bottle. What's on the label is what's in the tub. Full stop.

Read the label. Trust the label. And if a brand won't show you the label before you buy, that's your answer.

Real Products, Real People is a standard, not just our roster. If someone out there is doing this the right way — even if it's not our label — tell me. I'll talk about it here. info@realformulas.com
